Department of Acupuncture
and Oriental Medicine
INTRODUCTION
The Department of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine has
been established to provide quality educational programs
for serious students desiring to learn, research and work
within the essential field of alternative health treatment
methods.
American Liberty Universitys curriculum combines
a fresh new approach with such ancient and time-proven techniques
as acupuncture, herbology and oriental medicine. Our study
program has been formed in direct response to a strong need
for alternative medicines as well as the high level of interest
displayed by prospective health care practitioners.
MISSION STATEMENT AND PHILOSOPHY
American Liberty Universitys philosophy and continuing
mission is to produce highly trained graduates who embody
the finest principles of ethical professionalism.
It is the universitys belief that its graduates will
best serve their communities when they possess, in addition
to a mastery of their field, a genuine commitment to the
highest standards of personal conduct and the healing profession.

is encouraged through an underlying belief system in which
optimal values are achieved on a day-to-day basis. Students
will be challenged as to how they may best achieve their
goals and ensure their patients well being.
The School of Acupuncture and Oriental offers 4 programs
as follows:
The Diploma of Acupuncture (D.A.):
Especially designed to offer a sufficient understanding
and overview of acupuncture techniques to accredited
Medical Doctors desiring to utilize acupuncture in their
practice.
Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (M.S.):
This comprehensive course is designed to provide knowledge
of the acupuncture and oriental medicine skills necessary
for licensed acupuncturists who have never had the chance
to earn a Masters or Doctorate degree.
Doctor of Philosophy in Oriental Medicine
(Ph.D.):
This advanced research program is offered
to students who have completed their Master of Science degree
in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (or equivalent) and
are looking to continue their academic goals to the Ph.D.
level.
Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
(DOM):
The Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree
is designed for faculty and experienced practitioners who
want to enhance their skills in treating challenging, complex,
chronic cases and to distinguish themselves in an area of
specialization.
LICENSES/CREDENTIALS:
If licensing, certification or credentialing by a public
or private agency or professional association is the objective
of the student, we recommend that the applicant check with
the authority which offers the recognition before enrolling
in the University.
