Master of Sciences in
Nutrition and Herbal Medicine (M.S.)
PROGRAMS OF STUDY
The Master of Sciences in Nutrition and Herbal Medicine
is administered by the Department of Nutrition and Herbal
Medicine Research Advancement and is designed for students
wishing to obtain graduate training in the broad area of
Nutrition and Herbal Medicine. The Department has a variety
of basic and applied nutrition and herbal medicine research
programs, which involve several disciplines. These
graduate programs prepare
students for careers in academia, health care and industry.
The program is designed for individuals interested in entering
this exciting, growing profession as well as for professionals
already in the field seeking career advancement. The curriculum
also provides a special background for those planning to
pursue further graduate work at the doctoral level.
Thesis
The Master's program allows the student the option of a
thesis. It is the responsibility of the student to become
familiar with the regulations and procedures. All students
need to have completed 3 credits of Research Methodology.
Comprehensive examinations and all course work must be passed
before the final thesis defense.
A faculty research advisor and at least one other reader
supervise the Thesis.
Two typed copies of the thesis, one original and one clear
copy, approved and signed by the faculty research advisor
and reader, must be submitted to the Assistant Dean or Program
Director Office, accompanied by the proper binding fee.
The submitted thesis becomes the property of American Liberty
University, but the University does not limit the author's
right to publish the results.
Admission Requirements/Application Procedure
Applicants must provide evidence of the following:
- complete the Application for Admission and submit it
with a non-refundable check or money order for $110.00
payable to American Liberty University;
- a B.S.'s degree in nutrition and herbal medicine (or
equivalent) from an accredited or recognized institution;
- professional and/or academic competence in nutrition
and herbal medicine attested through a letters of recommendation;
- be in good standing with the college or university currently
or most recently attended;
- provide to recent color passport size photos;
- official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities
attended;
- submit a 1-2 page Statement of Educational purpose (basically,
a letter in your own words) that gives us an idea of your
future career objectives, issues in education important
to you, or a brief statement of your experiences in the
medical field, which make our program of interest to you.
Graduation Requirements
- Complete 42 semester hours of Graduate-level nutrition
and herbal medicine courses.
- A thesis that must be relevant to the students
field of study.
- Maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
