Master of Science in Nursing
(M.S.N.)
Description
The Department of Nursing offers a 45 semester-unit course
of graduate study leading to the Master of Science in Nursing
(MSN).
Students in the MSN program contribute to improving nursing
care through research, which includes analysis, articulation,
and documentation of the nursing process. The curriculum
is designed for students to obtain theoretical and practical
knowledge of the foundations for specialized practice, as
well as an opportunity to implement that knowledge through
advanced clinical practice.
The primary aim of the MSN program is to develop advanced
practice nurses with an extensive body of nursing knowledge
and a high level of competence in a clinical area of nursing
or nursing management. In their practice these advanced
practice nurses use logic and reason distinguished by intellectual
curiosity and individual creativity. Advanced practice nurses
apply multidisciplinary theories, including nursing, biologic,
behavioral, management, and organization theories, to develop,
implement, and evaluate models of patient care and quality
of services.
Thesis
The Master's program allows the student the option of a
thesis. It is the responsibility of the student to become
familiar with the regulations and procedures. All students
need to have completed 3 credits of Research Methodology.
Comprehensive examinations and all course work must be passed
before the final thesis defense.
A faculty research advisor and at least one other reader
supervise the Thesis.
Two typed copies of the thesis, one original and one clear
copy, approved and signed by the faculty research advisor
and reader, must be submitted to the Assistant Dean or Program

The submitted thesis becomes the property of American Liberty
University, but the University does not limit the author's
