Master of Science in Physical
Therapy (M.S.P.T.)
The Program
The Physical Therapy offers a 41 semester-unit course of
graduate study leading to the Master of Science in Physical
Therapy (M.S.P.T.) The M.S.P.T. Group Study classes,
Seminars, Special events and research are usually held during
the weekends. Holiday schedules are announced at the beginning
of the program.
Objective
This comprehensive course is designed to provide knowledge
of the physical therapy skills necessary for licensed physical
therapists who have never had the chance to earn a masters
and doctorate degree.
Criteria
Total Units: 41 units
Pre-Requisite: 1- B.S. degree in Physical Therapy
(or equivalent)
2- To be licensed physical therapists
Admission to the Department of Physical Therapy
Following evaluation for admission by the Office of Graduate
Admission at American Liberty University, the admission
committee of the department of physical therapy reviews
all applications impartially without regard to race, religion,
color, national origin, age, gender, marital status, sexual
orientation or disability. In order to be considered for
acceptance into the program, the applicant must meet or
surpass all general and specific requirements
Admission Requirements/Application Procedure
Applicants must provide evidence of the following:
Graduation from a recognized college or university having
an accredited B.S. Physical Therapy program satisfactory
to the Physical Therapy Department, or graduation with a
B.S. degree (or equivalent) in Physical Therapy from an
international institution with a Physical Therapy program
satisfactory to the Department of Physical Therapy.
Official transcripts from all colleges attended, including
those outside the U.S. Applicants holding transcripts from
outside the United States are required to have them evaluated
by a credentialing agency. This evaluation must include
course names, grades, and credits in American terms.
Status as a licensed Registered Physical Therapist, evidence
of current licensure as a registered Physical Therapist.
Professional and/or academic competence Physical Therapy
attested through two letters of recommendation.
Minimum two years experience as a Registered Physical Therapist.
Thesis
The Masters program allows the student the option of a
thesis. It is the responsibility of the student to become
familiar with the regulations and procedures. All students
need to have completed 3 credits of Research Methodology.
Comprehensive examinations and all course work must be passed
before the final thesis defense.
A faculty research advisor and at least one other reader
supervise the Thesis.
Two typed copies of the thesis, one original and one clear
copy, approved and signed by the faculty research advisor
and reader, must be submitted to the Dean or Program Director
Office, accompanied by the proper binding fee.
The submitted thesis becomes the property of American Liberty
University, but the University does not limit the author's
right to publish the results.
Graduation Requirements
Complete 38 semester hours of Graduate-level Physical Therapy
courses.
Completion of course requirements
A thesis that must be relevant to the students field
of study (elective).
Maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA
